The Financial Wellness Series, which launched in June, will offer specialized financial education to area seniors at all income levels and stages of life—pre- or post-retirement. The goal is to help people become better stewards of their own resources by increasing their financial understanding. Money Matters offers on August 14, 2018 Steps to Avoiding Scams. Class provides participants with a basic understanding of the types of scams targeting seniors and how to protect themselves from becoming a victim. This training is designed for those struggling to make ends meet on a fixed income. Buck Klintworth, portfolio manager with Chase Investment Counsel Corporation, facilitates this series. Lectures on managing money and investing will be offered free of charge during the summer and early fall. Four-week workshops supporting seniors in planning for retirement will be offered in the late summer and early fall for a $20 fee.
