Heroes, Horses and Healing: You are Mission Critical - Connecting veterans and their families with providers and teaching providers how to be more culturally competent. Lonesome Dove Equestrian Center in Powhatan, Virginia, October 25, 2019, 1-5 pm. Enjoy stories about equine therapy and serving veterans, preventive strategies to support the mental wellness of the veteran community and information about community support. Join us for horseback riding, weather permitting, ages 16 and up (must wear closed toed shoes to ride), Raffles every hour and refreshments and snacks. Purpose of event: Raise awareness of services that benefit veterans, service members, and their families and caregivers. Increase military cultural competency of providers: Indoor/Outdoor event, rain or shine. Vendor setup is indoor, DIRT riding ring. Wear appropriate clothing and closed toed shoes if you wish to ride a horse too! Hostted by Goochland-Powhatan CSB and Lonesome Dove.
