Home Delivered Meals

New River Valley Agency on Aging provides a nutritionally balanced meal Monday through Friday to persons who are confined to their homes due to health problems, have difficulty preparing meals, and have no one on a regular basis to prepare meals. In cases where hot meals are delivered, this also provides a good opportunity to check on the recipient's well-being. In service areas that are more remote, frozen meals or canned shelf-stable meals can be delivered once or twice per month.

For persons having an income at the poverty level, there is no charge for the meals. Persons having an income over the poverty level pay on a sliding scale fee after deductions are given for medical expenses.

Individuals have the option to pay the full cost of a delivered meal and bypass the assessment process.
