Who We Are

Fairfax County has six emergency shelters for individuals and families who are homeless. Each shelter is operated by community nonprofit organizations under contract with the County. Fairfax County also offers a hypothermia prevention program during the winter.

Human Services Coordinated Services Planning (CSP) at 703-222-0880 conducts an interview with the family to determine eligibility for shelter or other emergency services and makes the referral to the nearest local shelter. The TTY number is  711.  Visit Emergency Shelters for a location of each shelter

Adults without children may self-refer to the Baileys Crossroads Shelter, the Eleanor Kennedy Shelter, or the Embry Rucker Community Shelter.

Other languages include Arabic, Dari, Farsi, Hindi, Italian, Pashto, Punjabi, Somali, Urdu and Vietnamese.
