Who We Are
Francis Marion Manor Health & Rehabilitation at Smyth County Community Hospital provides both skilled and nursing facility-level health care services, including 24-hour nursing services, a registered dietitian, physical and occupational therapists, a speech-language pathologist, certified activity staff, a social worker and is accredited by the Virginia Department of Health.
Services related to this type of care may include:
- Daily administration of intravenous medication
- Daily cleaning and dressing of certain wounds
- Diabetes-related care
- Physical, occupational and/or speech therapy following orthopedic surgery, stroke or accident
- Strict or complicated medication regimens
Individuals admitted to the skilled care nursing unit require specialized treatment five to seven days per week and need to show continual improvement. The goal of skilled care is to assist in improving functions to prepare for a smooth transition home. As their care continues, meetings with family and patient determine the next steps in care.
Nursing Facility Care Services include those who need help with the activities of daily living.
Rehabilitative Services are designed to help patients increase their independence. An interdisciplinary team approach combines physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.
