Who We Are
Volunteers are needed to provide services in a variety of roles. The list below are a few examples:
- Become a Hotline Volunteer for the Sexual Assault Response and Awareness Program (SARA)
- Become a Shelter Volunteer for the Domestic Violence Program.
- Hispanic Orientation and Education Program needs volunteers to teach survival English and citizenship instruction to Hispanic adults.
- Guardians are court-appointed decision-makers for a person with disabilities.
- Representative Payees receive Social Security checks and pay bills for persons with an intellectual disability or mental illness.
- Northern Virginia Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program volunteers visit nursing homes and assisted living facilities to ensure residents' rights are protected and help residents with problems they can't resolve alone.
- Donation of gifts from "wish lists" for children and seniors, gift cards for foster teens, or grocery cards for families and seniors for the Holiday Sharing Program. Volunteers are also needed for the distribution of gifts.
- Volunteers for the "Let's Talk" Parent Newsletter to help write and edit content.
