Who We Are

Literacy programs depend greatly on community volunteers, including:

  • ABE Tutor - Opportunities to tutor one-on-one with native English speakers or advanced ESOL students to help them achieve personal education goals such as reading, writing, math, and U.S. Citizenship.
  • ESOL Teacher and ESOL Class Aide - Volunteers can choose to teach beginner, intermediate, or advanced English classes.  Volunteers must commit to an eight-week term.  Aides are also needed to assist in classrooms.
  • ESOL Tutor - opportunities to tutor English one-on-one with our beginner, intermediate, or advanced students who are waiting for the next session of classes to begin or wish to have additional help outside of the classroom.  Volunteers commit to eight-weeks at a time and spend at least two hours a week with their student.
  • GED Prep Teacher and GED Class Aide - GED Prep Class is taught twice a week for eight weeks each term in the mornings.   Five subjects are covered (Writing, Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies) which help prepare students for the GED Test
  • Other opportunities - Substitute teacher, registration volunteer, technical volunteer and Best Plus test administrator.
